Creative Urethanes, Inc. is a manufacturere of Polyurethane products for consumer and industrial
In the process of manfacturing urethane goods, employees are exposed to various chemical and
physical hazards. Creative makes every effort to minimize worker exposure to these hazards through job
training and environmental control systems.
Chemical exposures related to urethane manufacture are ISOCYANATES, CHLORINATED and
FLOURINATED SOLVENTS, REACTIVE AMINES, and organic compounds such as POLYETHER and
Physical hazards would be those associated with ELEVATED TEMPERATURE ENVIRONMENTS,
LATHE OPERATION, HYDRAULIC PRESS OPERATION and METER/MIX EQUIPMENT
OPERATION. Physical injury is typically limited to minor burns, cuts or abrasions as long as safety
procedures are followed.
Creative Urethanes, Inc. maintains and ongoing Safety Program through monthly inspections, periodic
training updates, annual employee physicals and industrial hygiene surveys. The most recent air quality survey
determined that levels of airborne Isocyanates and Solvents were in all cases less than 10% of permissible
exposure levels (PEL), based on testing by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry.
This information is available to all employees upon written request as provided for in Federal and State
regulations on employees Right To Know. Questions regarding specific materials of safety situations should be
addressed to the Right To Know administrator. A booklet entitled "Hazards in the work place: Your Right To
Know" is available to all employees.
